One of my go-to breakfast spots! Moke's never disappoints and is always worth the line if there ever is one. I always get the Lilikoi Pancakes (either by itself or with the Sunrise Special) but their Loco Loco and French Toast are also so bomb! There's quite a few tables inside, and a few tables outside. The service is great and quick, and there's lots of shared parking around Kaimuki
Great local and convenient breakfast spot in Kaimuki! There is a big parking lot right outside of Moke's but the restaurant itself is not huge. There are a few tables so reservations might be a good idea, or else there will likely be a wait. The service is efficient but friendly. There are a variety of menu items but we chose the lilikoi pancakes and the li hing mango pancakes. These were both filling and sweet! We both were unable to finish our stack of 2 pancakes so we took the rest home. Next time, we hope to try some of the savory items!
TLDR: Coworker highly recommended their lilikoi pancakes and it was one of the best recommendations I got all trip. Truly top 3 pancakes I've ever had in my life I think. Loco moco was also solid, and the service was really great. Convenient paid parking lot for this whole complex of shops and buildings. I will dream of these pancakes for a little while. ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] Lilikoi pancakes (5/5) - Soft, fluffy, and bathed in an airy lilikoi sauce that wasn't too sweet but added to much to these pancakes. There's so much sauce that even though we got a stack of two (huge) pancakes, there was plenty of sauce to compensate for the bottom layer of pancakes. 2. Loco Moco (4.5/5): Our first loco moco of the trip and a fantastic start! Only feedback would be that the rice could have been a little softer and there was probably a bit too much rice relative to the rest of the ingredients, but overall I thought it was really solid. ------ SERVICE: * The two guys working when we came in were a delight. Super friendly, always seemed to read our minds in terms of what we needed (extra plates, extra utensils, napkins, etc). They were happy to give tips on things to do nearby and were just great to meet on our trip. Thank you both! ------ ENVIRONMENT / AMBIANCE: * Walk up some stairs outdoors to get to the second floor of the complex where Moke's is located * Inside has quite a few tables that can be moved and rearranged to accommodate variously sized groups. * Outside there is a huge paid parking lot. Made parking easy and it's only $0.75/hour or so
Decided to come here for breakfast before going to a hike at manoa falls. I was searching for a good loco moco before leaving Honolulu and after debating between Moke's, rainbow drive in, and a couple other places, I decided on Mokes! There's a large paid parking lot where you can park in although I ended up doing street parking. Came at 830am on a Saturday and there was no wait yet, seems like it gets more packed around 10-11am. The restaurant itself feels homey and they have both indoor and outdoor seating available. If you want to try a little bit of everything in loco moco form, get the big Kat which gives you the steak, corn hash, and Portuguese sausage on your rice! A meat lovers dream Food: 5/5: Loco moke with garlic rice - having a ribeye instead of hamburger patty is a genius idea and also opted for garlic rice instead of standard rice which is very aromatic and smells and tastes delicious! The dish is a little salty with the gravy but you're not ordering loco moco to save on sodium. 4/5: lilikoi pancakes - the pancakes are light and fluffy and the lilikoi sauce does taste very good. Perfect amount of sweetness and tartness. Great place for breakfast and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Food: Mmmm mmmm good!!! I'm definitely hitting Moke's when I'm back in Hawaii! The popular pancakes you see online were just amazing, the sauce was delicious! Service: Excellent! They always made sure we had coffee in our mugs! Everyone was extremely friendly! The whole family loved their food! Ambiance: was chill, and cozy!
